FOX BRAND BRAID

Condition: New
Price: $10.00
"Various military braids were among the trade goods carried by most early day Indian traders. At Hudson's Bay Company posts, it was called 'Llama' braid. We now sell a braid that is very similar to the early braid that was sold by HBC. It gets it's name from the sly little fox sitting atop the trader's hat. It is an ideal binding for capotes (blanket coats), breechclouts, leggings, moccs, etc. that call for old-time braid used instead of ribbon. It can be seen on many early museum specimens, ie; early strap dresses, Metis dog saddles, Chippewa bandoliers, etc."Preston Miller, 1975 Four Winds Trading Post Catalog.
